First of all, I am very impressed with the ACPI support in FreeBSD.
It works very nicely on my Vaio PCG-SR7K, and, to my amazement, I am
able to suspend my desktop Athalon system, which I did not
think the cheap motherboard supported.

I wrote a very simple userland program to change the CPU speed via
hw.acpi.cpu.economy_speed based on load, mainly to speed up large
compiles while on battery power.

How long does it take to change the CPU speed after changing
hw.acpi.cpu.*?

Are there really 8 levels of cpu performance? I was under the
impression that the PIII Mobile really only had two... Is there any
easy way to find the current CPU speed, voltage or bus speed?

Thanks,
  Eric
