I get a bunch of errors just executing _STA methods for my thermal
zone and batteries. I've been getting these exact errors for a long
time now (hw.ec.event_driven doesn't help btw) but with the latest
import the actual error messages got more informative:

ACPI-0432: *** Error: Handler for [EmbeddedControl] returned AE_ERROR
    ACPI-1287: *** Error: Method execution failed [\\_TZ_.THRM._TMP] (Node 0xc11cc320), AE_ERROR
        ...
ACPI-0432: *** Error: Handler for [EmbeddedControl] returned AE_ERROR
    ACPI-1287: *** Error: Method execution failed [\\_SB_.BAT0._STA] (Node 0xc32a1ea0), AE_ERROR
ACPI-0432: *** Error: Handler for [EmbeddedControl] returned AE_ERROR
    ACPI-1287: *** Error: Method execution failed [\\_SB_.BAT1._STA] (Node 0xc32a1dc0), AE_ERROR
        ...

etc.

I'm assuming that a GPE is firing due to a status change? I've also
noticed now that sometimes when I do a 'sysctl hw.acpi' to read
values for battery and temperate, they are sometimes right and
sometimes wrong. The only wrong example I remember was a temperate
value of '1' (i.e. 0.1 K) which seemed to be an error number rather
than a value.
