Sorry for the caps, but I'm finding that people just ignore these
announcements unless I really emphasize them. :)

On the 29th of January, I'll be freezing the -current branch (well,
OK, the trunk). That means NO commits without my review first and I
may even have Peter work some cvs magic so that people can only commit
to !src (and maybe !ports once Satoshi begins his own freeze). I'm
not sure whether it's possible for Peter to do this or not, but I'd
prefer not to have to run around hitting people over the head for not
reading their mail and committing during the freeze this time - it's a
waste of all our time and energy. There will be another confirmation
message on the 29th, so please keep your eyes open for it.

On the 30th, if the tree isn't too screwed up I intend on also
producing a release candidate image and putting it (including an ISO
image) up for testing. Depending on how that goes, the final release
will then roll out sometime around Feb 15th. This will give us two
full weeks of testing so please make the most of them. I'm also going
to delay making the CDs for another full week following the official
release this time, just to give us a final quality-control check.
It's far easier to hot-patch bits on an FTP site than it is to patch
already-replicated CDs. :-)

Thanks. I think we can make 4.0 a rather impressive release!

- Jordan
