  before.  Now they need to conform to this guideline.  I hardly see
  this as a loss. :)
 
Umm, actually, I hate to be a dick, but I do see this as a loss.

It significantly reduces the pressure put on us to eliminate stale or
unmaintained software from ports.

The recent tk/tcl shake-out was quite painful, but in the end, we got rid
of a lot of useless shit.
