At first, this mailing list is not 'official user support desk'! All
the people who answered to your questions are volunteers, so,
sometimes you have no answers received... Don't criticize us X-)

Second. Your problem about 2.1G VFAT filesystem seems to be the known
bug of FreeBSD 2.1.* releases.

Known facts:
 1) FreeBSD 2.1.* does not support Win95's VFAT. FreeBSD treat VFAT
partition(s) as usual FAT filesystem, so long filename will corrupt if
you make change to the filesystem.
 2) FreeBSD 2.1.* works great with small FAT filesystem, which size is
512KB.
 3) Some people reports that there are some problem with large FAT
filesystem.
 4) Threshold capacity is unknown..
 5) FreeBSD 2.1.* can not treat FAT filesystem which is shrunk by fips.exe

-> Rumor: FreeBSD 2.1.*'s FAT filesystem has some kernel bugs..

Solution:
You can fix by reading and testing FreeBSD's kernel! FreeBSD's source
code is completely free! Or, just wait until these problems are fixed..

If you can read/write english better than japanese, you may have to
access freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG, http://www.freebsd.org/, or
like that...
