There have been several people having problems with their connection after
upgrading with Microsoft's recently released SP3 for NT 4.0.  This is just
to let everyone know that these are not bugs in either implementation.
After further evaluating the security situation, Microsoft has decided that
they will no longer default to passing clear text passwords over the
network.  So, those of you with security = share or security = server
implementations of Samba must do one of two things.

1)  Change to security = user and implement all of the stuff detailed in
the docs/ENCRYPTION.txt file.

2)  Follow Microsoft's directions for setting your NT box to allow plain
text passwords.  This is from their beta SP3 web page:
