Hello,

I was just given a computer to install a Unix system with a Japanese
layout. The computer is my brother's Compaq presario 3020, which he
bought in Tokio a couple of years ago or so.

He currently uses windows95 in Japanese but, luckily, since the setup
program didn't recognize his >4GB HD, it was divided into two
partitions. This means I have a DOS (d:\) partition which I can use to
setup FreeBSD... and a good chance to convince him to get rid of windows
and convert, although I'll need a windows/Unix multiboot set up for a
time ... "until he converts".

I currently own the 4CD set of FreeBSD 3.3 release (plus the 6CD set of
3.2 Toolkit). I've done a couple of FreeBSD installations before,
although I'm an OpenBSD user myself :). I decided to go for FreeBSD as
I believe it has good support for Japanese language setup.

So, is it possible to get FreeBSD installed with an X Window Japanese
environment in it? I would administer the machine (I speak/understand
NO Japanese at all), but the users would be two Japanese speaking
people. A suite like StarOffice in Japanese would be great (though any
other ... wordprocessor+spreadsheet will do it).

If anyone is willing to help me out, please get back to me off list, as
I'm not subscribed to the list.

Thank You So Much,
