fygrave> successefully so far but I am abit stuck with getting any other applications
fygrave> but lynx to show correct characters.

/*
 *W3M(*1) is better than lynx,I think.So,please use this.
 *
 *(*1)
 *You can get at "http://www.w3m.org"(<-This Web Site is written only
 *in english.) or at /usr/ports/www/w3m.
 */

fygrave> I am able to run lynx (compiled from sources, not from package) under
fygrave> kon if I set 'EUC-JP' as display character set, I am also able to read
fygrave> manual pages which are attached to ja-* packages. However funny thing happens
fygrave> when I try to read any mail posted to the list:
fygrave>
fygrave> All writting appears to me in form like:
fygrave>
fygrave> > ^[$B4d>k^[(B@^[$B?73cBg$G$9!#^[(B
(snip)
fygrave> I am supposed to perform some screen re-mapping for it, or there's another way around?

Well,japanized "mnews" can show such charactors collectly if my memory is right.
So,please try japanized "mnews".

fygrave> For X window, I got netscape working fine (with extra japanese fonts) but a bit
fygrave> stuck with configuring keyboard to type in japanese, and couldn't find Xfnon.tgz file
fygrave> on the ftp site that you have pointed out. However kterm is still able to show
fygrave> me katakana/hiragana (sp?) characters in X Window but not the words. I think
fygrave> installing fonts should fix the problem as soon as I find where to fetch them
fygrave> :). Will try to check out other FreeBSD mirrors. :)

I am sorry.You should look up not where I pointed(It is for packages
set up) but
ftp://ftp.jp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/4.1.1-RELEASE/XF86336
if you using "FreeBSD 4.1.1-Release".

If not,please replace 4.1.1 to the version which you are using.

Thank you.
